We organise regular trips to a variety of rivers.
"Close to Home"
Mountsorrel River Loop is a 3.7Km loop on the River Soar. We meet at the Waterside Inn, Mountsorrel, LE12 7BB which has plenty of carparking space. The paddle includes a gently stepped weir and a set of lock gates to complete the loop. The river would generally be considered grade 1. See map of loop. We do this paddle most Tuesdays and every other Thursday during the summer.
Cossington Weir to Waterside Inn (Mountsorrel) is a 3km paddle on the Soar with a weir at Sileby. The river is flat throughout and suitable for all skill levels. The weir maybe portaged. The put in is on Cossington Lane just to the east of the A6 in North Leicestershire (52.71108, -1.12106). Meetings here will include a small amount of time to shuttle to the get out. See map of the route.
Swarkestone - River Trent - is a 3Km paddle with some nice eddy lines, small play wave for practising. Basic ferry gliding, break in/out and small features can be introduced to paddlers. This sectrion of the river would generally be considered grade 1. The get on is 52.84008, -1.47141. Meetings here will include a small amount of time to shuttle to the get out. See map of the route.
Darley Bridge to Matlock - River Derwent. This section of river contains a number of features and sections for improving skills on moving water. This is a notable step up from Swarkestone or the Soar. Meetings here will include a small amount of time to shuttle to the get out. See map of the route.
We also paddle the Upper Derwent, the Don, the Goyt, the Washburn, Dart, Tavy, Walkham, Erme, Burton Weir, Idle (the name is very descriptive ;) )
